What to Know About the McCulloch MC1375

McCulloch Canister Steam Cleaners

There’s no way around it: Having the right steam cleaner can make or break your cleaning strategy. But with so many steam cleaners out there, it can be hard to determine which ones are worth it — so today we are taking a look at one of the most popular ones on the market: the McCulloch MC1375 canister steam cleaner.

The McCulloch MC1375 is the middle size of canister steam cleaners from McCulloch. They offer three sizes: MC1275, MC1375 and the MC1385

When comparing the specifications of the MC1375 vs. the MC1275, the first thing you notice is that they have the same size water tank. However, the additional features and functions of the MC1375 really do make a difference.

It offers 90 minutes of continuous steam, compared to the MC1275’s 45 minutes, making it easier to clean for longer. It does take a few extra minutes to heat up, but in exchange it offers a more powerful and variable flow of steam.

If you’re trying to decide between the MC1375 vs. the MC1385, you’ll notice a big difference in the size of the water tank. The MC1375 holds 48 ounces while the MC1385 holds 64 ounces. Aside from the additional water space, three more accessories and the extra 30 minutes of continuous steam, the MC1385 has many of the same features as the MC1375. The 18 foot power cord, integrated cord wrap, 58 psi and variated on-demand steam are all similarities between the two models.

Without water in the tank, the MC1375 weighs 13 pounds. The MC1385 also weighs 13 pounds, but with the larger water tank on board, the total weight of the steam cleaner will be much greater.

McCulloch also offers a portable power steam cleaner as well as a handheld steam cleaner. These two are intended for smaller cleaning tasks, such as furniture or car interiors. We won’t be taking a closer look at them today, but if you love using your McCulloch canister steam cleaner, you might find them worth investigating.

The MC1375 Review

Now let’s see what everyone is talking about with the MC1375.

No Chemicals Needed

As with all steam cleaners, the MC1375 uses the power of intensely heated water to clean and sanitize many surfaces, without the need for any chemicals or fragrances. This is ideal for areas that have animals or people that can be sensitive to chemicals on surfaces or in the air.

Versatile Cleaning Power

The MC1375 can be used on most flooring, appliances, fixtures, outdoor furniture, tiling and countertops. If you’re wondering how it can clean all of these areas, the answer could lie in any one of the 20 accessories it comes with. These include:

  • 16.5 inch extension wand (includes two)
  • 13 inch by 8.5 inch large mop head
  • Jet nozzle
  • Angled nozzle
  • 3 inch scraper
  • 4 inch triangle brush
  • 6 inch by 4.5 inch large brush
  • Bristle brush
  • 1.5 inch brass utility brush
  • 1.5 inch nylon utility brush (includes two)
  • 2.5 inch round brush
  • Microfiber mop pad
  • Scrubbing mop pad
  • 2.5 inch round scrub pad (includes two)

As you can see, the variety of sizes and types of brush heads makes it easy to tackle almost any cleaning project you have. Dirt and grime on carpets, grills, decking and even furniture won’t stand a chance.

Steam Control

Another weapon in the fight against the grime is the on-demand variable steam feature of the MC1375. Control the amount of steam with the dial on the top or use the optional lock to set a continuous stream. The steam rate on the highest setting is 31 grams per minute, and the lowest is 15 grams per minute. This range is broad enough to tackle any cleaning project you encounter.

The pressure gauge next to the steam control dial is a great safety feature so you can keep an eye on the pressure. Working with the 58 psi or 4 bar pressure, the hot steam will blast away even the toughest dirt.

Portability & Storage

The wheels on the MC1375 make it easy to move around larger areas. The 18 foot power cord length, coupled with the 10 foot steam hose means you can cover a massive area without an extension cord or before needing to change power outlets.

We know that steam cleaners aren’t an appliance you’d use every day, so it makes sense to have storage questions. The MC1375 is a compact 10.5 by 12.2 by 15.6 inches. One of the most useful features it has is an integrated cord wrap, making it less of a hassle to store than the MC1275 that doesn’t come with one.

Durability

One important thing to note is that the McCulloch MC1375 is entirely plastic, including the extensions wands and other attachments. What this means is that when you are cleaning, you can’t exert too much force. For example, if you are working with a particularly stubborn stain on the floor, you need to be careful about how hard you’re pressing or scrubbing. Plastic components will break with enough force compared to metal, but they don’t get as hot to the touch.

The great thing about cleaning with pressurized steam is that you shouldn’t need to apply much force to get things clean. The heat and moisture, as well as the force of the steam flow, should be enough to clean almost any dirt or grime.

Bottom Line

If you’re looking for a respectable result from an at-home steam cleaner, we think you can’t go far wrong with the McCulloch MC1375 Canister Steam Cleaner. It is powerful enough to tackle any mess and extremely versatile with all the attachments. Ideal for cleaning and sanitizing anywhere in your home, car, yard, garage, kennels and beyond.
