One question we hear a lot about steamers is whether or not it’s OK to add things to the water tank to either assist in cleaning (such as bleach or vinegar) or additives to leave a fresh scent after cleaning.
The answer is usually NO!
Steam cleaners are designed to clean with just steam and adding things into the water tank can destroy them. Insert the Dupray Hill Injection.
As the name suggests, this commercial-grade steam cleaner will inject detergent from its built-in 20 oz. detergent tank at your request. This will help dislodge the most stubborn messes that the steamers 345°F steam may need help with. Read on and we’ll cover this in more detail along with its other key features.
If you’ve owned a steam cleaner in the past, you likely ran out of water and found it inconvenient to have to wait for the unit to cool down before being able to refill it and continue steaming. The Dupray Hill Injection allows for a continuous refill, a feature only found in higher priced commercial steamers.
By using a 2 tank system, the Hill safely allows you to refill the steamer while it’s in use. This is a huge time saver if you are a homeowner, professional cleaner, or auto detailer with large jobs ahead of you. Dupray offers an advanced cleaning kit for those that know they will need different types of brushes and more of them. These kits work on all of Dupray’s steamers
The Dupray Hill is a very powerful steam cleaner by itself. The ability to add detergent to the steam is a feature that few steamers in this price range come with.
For common tasks around the home, it’s likely not necessary for you to use unless you’re looking at severely caked-on grime like the inside of an oven or grill. If you wish to use the detergent feature, it’s important to note you MUST use only approved detergents.
Failure to use an approved detergent can result in damage to the machine and/or your health. Dupray does sell their own detergent concentrate specifically for steam cleaners called Biovap.
This detergent is biodegradable and can be cut down at a rate of 40/1 according to Dupray.

This steam cleaner does a fantastic job of cutting through tough cleaning jobs. You’ll probably have so much fun doing so that you’ll keep looking for new things to clean. With the steam output setting on low or the medium setting, the steamer has no problem maintaining steam pressure and temperature during use. If you go up to max power however you will need to clean in shorter 1-3 minute bursts and allow 20 seconds or so for the steam to recharge. We found this steamer to be a favorite among professional auto detailers. Cleaning everything from door jams to carpet to the engine bay is no match for the Dupray.
The Dupray Hill Injection brings a lot to the table in a commercial-grade – consumer steam cleaner. While the price point is a good bit higher than it’s less expensive siblings (the Tosca, One, and Neat), you’re getting top of the line power, function and cleaning abilities. This steam is highly recommended for cleaning professionals and individuals serious about cleaning!
